The “Why”
My experiences in China were exceptionally positive. The cities brim with life, showcasing metropolitan wonders characterized by impressive skylines and vibrant neon lights illuminating the night. The warmth of the local people and the enticing aromas of delicious cuisine wafting from restaurants on every corner rendered my visits truly unforgettable. Of particular note was the cultural and social contrast; every aspect of life felt distinctly different. I was struck by the sense of security, the breathtaking sights, and the welcoming nature of the community. Entering a world where safety was not a primary concern, I encountered friendly strangers, pristine streets, and a remarkably convenient daily life. Above all, the pervasive sense of hope among the people was inspiring.
The mission of FromHereToThere is straightforward: to foster genuine connections. I established this platform with the intention of nurturing relationships among individuals, particularly within Generation Z, not through political discourse or stereotypes, but through the authentic experiences of others. It serves as a gateway to another world, allowing you to bridge the gap and gain insights into how others live without the need for travel. However, I hope that one day you will embark on your own explorations of these remarkable places.
Generation Z, born from the late 1990s to the early 2010s, is vital as the most populous, diverse, and digitally savvy generation, wielding significant influence over future economic and social trends. Simultaneously, we face vulnerabilities while growing up in societies influenced by the beliefs, stereotypes, and narratives of older generations. By sharing authentic stories from diverse voices, we can transcend the shadows of stereotypes and distrust, revealing the humanity, humor, and creativity that exist beyond those confines. This initiative represents my commitment to challenging biases and countering unrealistic portrayals. It is my hope that the messages conveyed on this site will spark your curiosity and encourage a pursuit of truth. We each inhabit our own bubbles, yet the world beyond can be profoundly fascinating.
About ME
I incorporated this non profit organization in 2024,California. I am currently a high school student at DVHS. As a second-generation Chinese American, I have had the privilege of traveling to China multiple times, multiple cities and have been interested in its culture, history, and social development from a young age. As a member of Generation Z, I feel a responsibility to promote culture, social exchange between the two great countries, especially for the Gen-Z. Having factual based understanding about China, a nation that plays a significant role in the world is critically important.

I have volunteered at numerous social events focused on cultural exchange between China and US. During my high school years, I have hosted Chinese film events at City Hall, serving as the moderator by introducing the storylines and providing historical and social context for the films. The Q&A sessions following the screenings were particularly engaging, as I observed a noticeable gap in the American public’s knowledge and understanding of contemporary China, a country that has undergone significant transformation in recent years. These events attracted approximately 400 attendees and garnered positive feedback. I am currently collaborating with other volunteers to organize a series of similar events this summer that will focus on China’s recent changes.

Looking ahead, I intend to dedicate time to studying and traveling in China to achieve fluency in the language, immerse myself in the culture, and explore its rich history. Additionally, I plan to further develop this social project and improve its content to provide better support to my fellow Americans.
